It is a Latin American communications services brand, owned by the Mexican company América Móvil and which, together with Telmex, Telcel and Telesites, is controlled by the Carso Group, whose majority shareholder is Carlos Slim. The brand starts its operations in the country in March 2009, under the slogan "I have it clear". He thought of it as the mobile phone operator in Panama, after Cable & Wireless, Movistar and Digicel. Since 2009, it had 350 base stations nationwide, and reported 90 percent of the population of the country's cities, coverage that expanded to 100 percent at the end of 2009. In January 2011, Claro added to its offer of services in Panama, the Claro TV Satelite TV service, thus strengthening its position as an integral telecommunications company in Panama, offering the services of Cellular Telephony, Mobile Internet and Satellite Television in the country.
